Second Annual Austin Gorilla Run

5K charity event in Downtown Austin

January 21st 2012 9am

Saturday, January 21st of 2012 there will be over 1000 people running through downtown Austin IN FULL GORILLA COSTUME raising funds and awareness for the endangered mountain gorilla.

Gorilla suits in closets across Austin await re-emergence for The Second Annual Austin Gorilla Run. The event entry fee is a donation to The Mountain Gorilla Conservation Fund and with registration each participant receives a gorilla suit (for keeps), brunch catered by Fado Irish Pub at the after-party, plus a swag bag of goodies from our sponsors. The after-party will feature live music by local funk-rock band, Achachay, and more bands are to be determined. Proceeds directly benefit The Mountain Gorilla Conservation Fund, educating veterinarians and park rangers and creating jobs in Uganda, Rwanda, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. All of these efforts have positively impacted the population of the Mountain Gorilla. This year we hope to break the Guinness World Record for most people in gorilla costumes. Registration for the event is open at our website. Please help us spread the word!
